The last two years were extremely stressful and destroyed our mental health. Thinking about these months we feel anxious, there were thousands of moments that made us feel dreadful.
I want to start big with my 2022 on a big note, for that, I have to start with some habits without any procrastination.
PROCRASTINATION? Heard about this word before right? Let me break down it for you :)
- PROCRASTINATION:-
The act of putting off doing something that you should do, because you do not want to do it. For Example, You have to finish a certain task within a deadline but you choose to do something which is not so important.
SO PROCRASTINATION IS LIKE LAZINESS?
NOPE! They are so different
Procrastination is an ongoing process or an active process- you choose to do something instead of the task which is important for you.
Laziness is a state where you don't feel like doing anything, it shows an inactive state.
Thus Procrastination and Laziness are two different situations altogether.
HOW CAN PROCRASTINATION MAKE US FEEL STRESSED AND ANXIOUS?
Stress and Anxiety?
First, we should know what is the meaning of Stress and Anxiety:
- STRESS:- It is a feeling of emotional or physical tension.
Stress can come from any situation or thought that makes you feel frustrated, angry, or nervous. It is the body's reaction to a frustrating situation.
- ANXIETY:- It is a feeling of fear, dread, and uneasiness.
Anxiety might cause you to sweat, feel restless, and tense. Excessive worry and Intrusive thought are the reasons for Anxiety.
As you read about them, Procrastination can make us feel stressed and anxious cause we kept delaying the Important task. Stress and Anxiety take the driver's seat if keep procrastinating about our deadlines.
So how do not procrastinate and do productive work?
CONTROLLING PROCRASTINATION:-
- Prioritize Your Important Tasks.
- Immediately start working on the deadlines.
- Break the large tasks into a set of chucks and set time sessions to finish these short deadlines easily.
- If you feel distracted because of anything in between your sessions, Note down them on a piece of paper.
- Organize your work/ Study area.
- Take breaks in between every session.
- Structure your daily work/study routine for every day to achieve accuracy.
- Say NO to the things which make you stressed and anxious,
- Use of Planners.
- SLEEP WELL.
